The following are the organizations affiliated with IITMAA:

• IITMAA (IIT Madras Alumni Association) s the primary alumni association, where all IITM students automatically become life members upon their graduation. It is an NGO, and governed by the Tamil Nadu Societies Act. The Director is the Patron, and it enjoys a close relationship and the patronage of the Institute which provides great support and provides office space on the campus. Even though it is located on IITM campus, as an organization IITMAA is independent of the Institute.
• IITMAANA is peer-level organization of the IITMAA in North America.  It represents all alumni in North America and is governed by the US Internal Revenue Service as a 501(C) (3) organization.   Because of this requirement, IITMAANA maintains a separate peer-level status with IITMAA, and has a separate Constitution for the main organization and its US-based chapters, which also subscribe to the Constitution.
• IITM Charity Trust: is primarily a Charity organization, is the charity arm of the IITMAA and has been set up to receive funds from Alumni donors, to do charitable activities. The Trust provides the 501(c) (3) dimension that IITMAANA provides for the US Organization.
• IITM Research Foundation:  Has been setup by the Institute and manages the setup of the IITM Research Park and other Institute Research interests.  It's current CEO is Dr. Sandhya Sekhar, an Alumna of IIT Madras.
• OAA (Office of Alumni Affairs) is a liaison office for Alumni Affairs set in place by the institute, and run by the Institute to take care of alumni interests. It is not the Alumni Association, but is an office under IITM's Office of the Dean of Planning. OAA assists both IITMAA and IITMAANA, and institute-alumni related interests. The OAA acts as the primary conduit for students as they graduate from of the Institute and become alumni, and is governed by Institute and GOI rules.
• PanIIT is an umbrella, advocacy organization representing all IIT's. PanIIT has two peer organizations;  PanIIT (USA) and PanIIT (India). PanIIT organizes annual global conferences alternating each year with a conference each even year in India and odd year in the USA.
