A new Initiative - Counseling for JEE
At the request of our alumni association, IITM has taken an initiative to invite our alumni to be part of the recently held counseling for JEE at IITM, on June 0, 11, 13,14,15,16. On each day a 5 minute slot was allotted for the alumni to address the gathered candidates at the start of the day. A group of alumni were part of the counseling from 9 AM to 1 PM. This initiative was well received by the fresh JEE candidates and received wide approval. The programme initiative was taken by Prof Sriram and was coordinated by Raj Varadarajan and Venkatraman Ravi, president and Treasurer of IITMAA respectively.

The 2009 Adieu day Function was celebrated on 18th April, 2009 at Students Activity Centre (SAC). A lot of preparation went into the planning of the event, through weekly, and close to the event by-weekly, meetings spearheaded by IIT MAA EC and OAA. Representatives of Students, coordinated by the Student Rep for Alumni Affairs, Anikhet Baheti, also took part in the regular planning meetings. Gautham of 1978 batch had put in a lot of time to cover planning and collecting alumni to attend the Event. Though a lot of expectations were raised in the Planning meetings for the Event, the poor student turn-out for the Event was dismal and heart-breaking! "Further to our earlier notice, The EC which met on Saturday the 11th April at IITMAA office after taking into considerations the election results based on votes polled up to the original date of 30th March and also after consultations with PAN-IIT secretariat has pleasure in declaring the first two candidates who polled the maximum votes.
